The Pope's trail

The Pope's trail

It is also worth to take a walk along the Papal trail. This option offers stunning views and leads all the way to the centre of Zakopane, which will take you around 1,5h. From the city centre you can take a bus or taxi back.

The trail has been created in the memory of the pilgrimage that John Paul II made in 1997- riding in an open papamodile through unknown villages on the way from Zakopane to Ludźmierz.

The Pope's trail

The trail has been marked with yellow colour and features memorial stones. It is worth to ride this historical trail with a bike as it features stunning views. Such a trip is quiet easy - around 40km from our guesthouse, throughout the entire Papal trail, all the way to Nowy Targ, where we suggest getting a train back to Zakopane. The trail begins from steepy and challenging driveway to Gubałówka leading through Salamandra Street ( alternatively, you can take a cable lift to Gubałówka). The trail then leads through Gubałówka promenade, villages like Ząb, Bańska Niżna, Maruszyna all the way to Ludźmierz – the oldest village and parish in Podhale. If you stop by the reception desk, we will be happy to mark the exact route on the map :)
